Visiting the Project Neighborhood Empowerment in Ha Noi
On the occasion of visiting Vietnam, Mr. Brendan Rogers, The General Director of Irish Aid, came and talked to Bền Vững Action team members on June, 5th 2009 in Phúc Tân district, Hanoi.

Ms Maeve Collins, the Irish Ambassador in Vietnam, and Mr. Sean Hoy, the Irish Aid representative in Vietnam, were also in the delegation.

Whilst visiting Phuc Tan, the delegation was introduced to actions that Ben Vung Action team members did before and after participating in the program, for example, building concrete roads, plating vegetable on the banks of the Red River and saving energy in households. The delegation was impressed by the Action Team’s activeness and handwork when they joined with other members of the community to mobilize their own resources in order to build the 500m road along the river bank to improve the environmental quality.

It was also a chance for the Ben Vung team to share their feelings and hopes for the project: they want not only to improve their living standards but also make a clean, green and nice community in Phuc Tan, like the community in Ballymun, that Ireland did. On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Brendan thanked the community members for their warm welcome. He hoped that by participating in the program, they might have more power to do actions to improve the living standard in Phuc Tan.
